Maths

“Success in Maths does not depend on how many answers you know, but by what you do when you don’t know the answer.” —Unknown

At Tooting Primary School (TPS), our vision for Mathematics across the school is that ‘children learn to master Maths’. From budgeting our finances, to telling the time, Maths is a pivotal part of our everyday lives. Maths at TPS, is focused on equipping all of our children with the skills they need to solve problems both now and in the future.

As a school, we aim to promote a life-long love for Mathematics and for children to feel confident in their arithmetic skills, their ability to reason mathematically and enthusiasm for exploring Maths in real-life problems, across a range of contexts. Deepening their understanding of Maths, will allow pupils to better understand the impact of Maths on the world around them.

We believe that every child is a mathematician, and through supportive, engaging and creative teaching, we strive to help children realise this quality in themselves.
