PE & Sport
We aim to give children the opportunity to experience a wide range of sports and to understand the positive impact that an active, healthy lifestyle can have across all areas of life.
Sport is used as a key vehicle for developing confidence, teamwork and resilience, and throughout the school we focus on enabling all children to participate, have fun and develop skills in both team and individual activities. We develop fundamental movement skills such as running, catching, throwing, striking and spatial awareness, which underpin participation in a wide variety of games and physical activities.
Children take part in small-sided games to develop teamwork and begin to understand tactics at an age-appropriate level. As they progress through the school, opportunities increase to represent the school as part of a range of teams competing against other local schools.
Led by our Sports Leader, Mr Price, the team support the delivery of high-quality PE provision. This ensures consistency, builds staff confidence and enhances the overall sporting experience for all pupils.
A variety of after-school sports clubs is provided to extend learning beyond the curriculum and encourage wider participation. Children are also signposted to local clubs to help them pursue interests and develop their skills further outside of school.
By the time children leave, our aim is for them to have developed a genuine enjoyment of sport and to recognise its value in their everyday lives. Physical activity is promoted as something that supports both wellbeing and long-term healthy habits.
Participation in sporting events and competitions across the borough is actively encouraged and celebrated. Every child is given the opportunity to take part in an interschool competition during their time at the school.
